EX-MILITANT LEADERS COMMEND BUHARI ON BOROH'S APPOINTMENT

Former leaders of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) commended President Muhammudu Buhari Wednesday for the appointment of the new ‎Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Implementation Committee, Brigadier General Paul T. Boroh.

According to the ex-MEND leaders, the appointment is apt, responsive, and will resolve the concern raised by the people of the Niger Delta region over the hitches in the amnesty program and payment of outstanding allowances and scholarship fees. They stated under the aegis of the Leadership, Peace, and Cultural Development Initiative (LPCDI)‎ and under the leadership of Pastor Reuben Wilson that though the appointment was delayed and nerves frayed among beneficiaries of the program, the choice of Boroh is welcomed and commendable.

"We welcomed the news of the appointment with happiness," LCPDI's statement said. "It is more gratifying to know that the new appointee is from the region and from Bayelsa State."

Mr. Wilson made sure to state "as a result of the amnesty offer the country went from producing 900 barrels to over 2 million barrels of crude oil per day."
