Pregnant Woman Beaten To A Pulp By Angry Mob For Stealing

A pregnant woman was tied up and brutally beaten by an angry mob for alleged theft on August 29 in a village near Taizhou city, China.

The shocking video that took Chinese media by storm, shows a mother-to-be tied to the telephone pole, while the man is pulling her hair and kicking her in the face in front of enraged villagers. After the beating the woman, known only as Ms Lu, unconsciously slips down the pole with her hands behind her back.

This is not the first time Ms Lu was caught by locals. Eleven days before the assault the woman had broken into the home of a man and tried to steal 900 Yuan (N28,214) cash. She was detained by the locals and after returning the money was set free. The residents of the village decided not to call the police as she was pregnant.

One of them said: “Last time she was let go but then she came back. Otherwise she wouldn’t have been beaten so brutally.” After the incident, the alleged thief was taken to hospital with minor onjuries. Police confirmed that Ms Lu has already been charged for theft at least three times. The man, who is seen beating Ms Lu in the video handed himself to police.
